Pool Day!

Abbie was enjoying a bottle before a morning swim!  The water was chilly, but she had a great time, and so did I!!

Abbie has her first tooth!!

There have been some crazy big changes with Abbie lately!!  She sits up, she eats most baby food, and today she cut her first tooth!  We think she actually cut it last night, but who cares... it's here!!

Bottom front left... and it is adorable and SHARP!

I guess I dont have a whole lot to write about it... yet... but I am so excited and proud of my little angel!

Our new "Green" lifestyle...

We have embarked on a new adventure in our house!
First of all I started making baby food for Abbie.  It is REALLY easy, and Abbie loves the consistancy and taste of the food!  Her favorite is carrots!!  And she has started apples, which she also LOVES!  I really like making it for her!!
Second... we have jumped full force into the cloth diaper world!!  We really like the diapers that we have, and the system we are using works REALLY well.  We use a dry pail method and we invested in a diaper sprayer... I am pretty sure that is the best thing EVER invented!!  She looks so cute in her cloth diapers, and I think she really likes them!
It is pretty amazing to me the different reactions I have received when I tell people about cloth diapers!!  There is no in between!  Either people are very understanding and supportive or they are completely disgusted and not supportive at all.  I try to explain to people that dont support it... that it isnt difficult, but most of the time the are pretty closed minded.
It doesnt matter though!!  It is our adventure, and so far... we like it!!

This has been a busy week, and little miss Abbie is teething pretty bad right now.  That means a lot of crying and VERY little sleep!  Hopefully this weekend will be somewhat relaxing!!

Too Quiet

So... It is almost 2am, and I am wide awake!  I was lying in bed thinking about sewing machines, because I desperately want a new one, and I thought I would price them out on the internet!

I found one I like, and I was about to log off the internet, and I sat here listening to the quiet in my house... and I have to admit... I dont like it!  After being a mom for only 6 months now, I have come to appreciate the noise!  I never feel alone, and I always have something to do, but not right now!  I find it funny and almost ironic that I go through the days praying for some peace and quiet and as I sit here with plenty of it now... I am lost!  The baby doesn't need me, there are no chores to finish, and Derik is sound asleep needing none of my attention!  I love my life, and I dont care how chaotic and hectic it is sometimes... its my life!

It isnt very often that silence can make you truely appreciate something, but tonight it has!  I am so blessed, and I tend to take it all for granted.

God - Thank you so much for everything you have blessed me with... my friends, my family, my home.  I am so thankful for it all!

A Family Day

Today was Derik's first day off work in a long time!  He has had a few days off, but he was getting the townhouse ready for the new renters.  It took a long time, but the renters are in, and Derik is off duty!

After the rough day yesterday, we tried to take it easy today!  We ran a few errands, but for the most part we let Abbie get a lot of rest at home.  With Abbie resting and trying hard to recover from her shots... I had a lot of time to spend with Derik!  Derik woke up early this morning and ran a "covert errand"!  He came back with flowers and chocolate!  He went to Botanica and got a gorgeous arrangement, and Loco for Coco and put together a box of my favorite truffles!  I asked what in the world this was for, and he said "For put up with all the crazy last week"!  After running our errands, Derik made dinner for us - and it was AMAZING!!  We popped the cork on a bottle of Cab and sat down to watch Green Zone.  It was so nice to have an evening with my husband... and it was well earned!!

Abbie, mommy hopes you feel all better tomorrow...I love you!  Derik, I love you more than you can know!

God Bless -

A Rough Morning...

This morning got off to a very rough start.  I was asleep upstairs when out of nowhere I heard a thump and Abbie let out a terrible scream.  She was crying so loud that I didnt even grab my glasses before flying down the stairs.  When I got to the bottom of the stairs I saw Derik holding Abbie, and I instinctively reached for her.  Apparently Derik sat Abbie on the couch and went to make her a bottle and she flipped off the couch head first onto the hardwood floors.  I immediately called the doctor and set an appt to bring her in and have her looked over.  We checked in and they called us back almost immediately.  We just happened to get an appointment with Dr. Anderson, and we were very excited about that!  He looked her over and said that she looked great and everything was fine.  We decided that while we were there, we should go ahead and get Abbie's 6 month shots.  Her 6 month appointment was scheduled for August 26th, so why make 2 trips!  Abbie is 14lb 14oz and 25 1/2 inches long!!  Growing like crazy!  She got her shots, and has slept most of the afternoon.  I feel terrible for her, and I hope that tomorrow is better than today!  Thank God she is ok!!
We love you Abbie...

I can blog too!

So I have been reading all of these fun and incredibly interesting blogs online, and I have decided that I can do this too!! It cant be too difficult right?!?! I am a relatively interesting person, and have some somewhat funny stories that I can share with the world! So here I go...

My name is Jessica, and I am 25 years old. I have a wonderful husband, Derik, and an amazing 6 month old baby girl, Abigail. I love my family more than words can possibly describe! I am a stay at home mom and I love getting the opportunity to watch my daughter grow up. She is growing so fast, and changing every day! I have recently embarked on a new adventure... cloth diapers! A few friends of mine have already made the switch, but until recently I thought they were all crazy! I did a lot of research though, and found that cloth diapers are NOTHING like they used to be! They are so incredibly easy to use, that I felt stupid for thinking I couldnt do it! I made the investment, and purchased what I needed. It is different, and I would even go as far to say it is a life style change, but far from impossible!
Abigail is working on sitting up now, and I know that means the next milestone is crawling. I have decided that I am not ready for that yet!! I had a talk with God and asked him if I could freeze my Abigail at this age forever... he laughed at me! I love everything about my sweet Abbie! Even the days that I sit crying because I dont know why she is crying... I love her more than words could tell.

My husband is the Service Manager at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Yes, that does mean we love steak and wine! He loves his job very much, and is continuously trying to be better at it. He is currently sprucing up our rental property, as we have new renters moving in on Monday!
I am a pretty simple person I guess! I am happy in my pajamas at home watching an episode of FRIENDS and playing with Abbie! Since I have become a mom, I believe I have also become a bit of a homebody!
Well... Abbie just summoned me... so until tomorrow!
